建立与绘画的信任和互助关系,这是工作的开端也是核心。人不能两次踏进同一条河流 (古希腊,赫拉克利特)。一切都存在,同时又不存在,都在流变,这个朴素的世界观也是绘画的基石。内部结构、空间的平衡和相互作用关系,这是我一直以来工作的动力。身体的劳动通过感性认识生成新的具体形式物与理性秩序。这看起来是矛盾的,我们在努力逃脱以往的绘画秩序的约束控制,那些过去的成为了土壤和基础,与此同时萌生念头和建造新的秩序,它在悄无声息的日常发生,也在默默消亡和被遗忘,这就是法则。
Establishing a relationship of trust and support with painting is the beginning and the core of my work. You cannot step into the same river twice (as said by Heraclitus). Everything exists and does not exist, everything is transient. Such a simple worldview is the cornerstone of painting. The internal structure, the balance of space and the interplay of relationships, are the motivations for me to work at all times. Physical labour generates new concrete forms of rational order through emotional recognitions. It seems paradoxical that we try to escape from the restrictions of the past order of painting, and that the past has become the soil, or the foundation of new ideas and order. The pattern is that, the process goes on daily without being recognised, yet things fade away and are left behind at the same time.

被赋予形状的物带着强烈的本体色彩,基于艺术家个体对于外部的观察感受,重新塑造形成另一个全新的感官整体,一个吸引和被捕获的机制。绘画的本能是生物性的,天生被基因驱使、去道德化与羞耻、甚至是先验的。形式的具体化是终点吗?当然不是,它的最终意图和指向是纯精神性的,那是我们真正的归宿。大面积的反复铺陈、空间进退,“不确定的气候”走向“可预见的岛屿”,这是必经之路。绘画有属于它本身的规律和内在逻辑,没有多余的结构和有关系的相互补充,在时间的沟壑与绉褶中走向实在、具体;这看起来并不是遥远而飘渺的,绘画的日常对抗虚无主义。
The object to which the shapes are given is strongly ontological, based on the artist's individual perception of the outside world. It is reshaped to form another new sensory entity, a mechanism of attraction and capturing. The instinct of painting is biological, inherently driven by the genes, de-moralized and de-shamed, it is even a priori. Is the concretization of form the ending point? Of course not, its ultimate intention and direction is purely spiritual. It is where we really belong. The repeated laying out of a large area, the retreating of space, the "uncertain climate" leads to the "predictable island", this is the inevitable way. Painting has its own laws and internal logic. With no superfluous structure and interrelationship, painting proceeds in the gullies and creases of time towards the real and the concrete; this does not seem distant and evanescent, as the everyday aspect of painting confronts nihilism.

绘画使人沉默。绘画几乎占据了我的全部生活,当然,这是自愿的。每一天,我为在探索中有一点新的体会而感到高兴。我需要提醒自己这是一个长期反省和持续输出的过程。为了同样的错误不犯第二次,我必须保持行动的时间恒定和敏感性,明白这一点有多么的重要,尤其在那些常有的艰难时刻,绘画会跨越暗流,沉积成一些信念,形成态度。行动是一直在做的事情,不断训练直觉,没错,直觉是后天可以训练的。现实的疏离与温情、陌生甚至信任相互的应力,让彼此变得可见。
或许绘画只是残留于现实的一点物质证据,肉身与自然采取的行动就是一种高度协作的精神契约。

Painting makes people silent. Painting takes up almost my whole life, of course, by choice. Every day, I am happy to have a little new experience in my exploration. I need to remind myself that this is a long process of reflection and continuous output. In order to not make the same mistakes a second time, I have to keep the time constancy and sensitivity of action. It is crucial to understand this, especially in those difficult moments which have become so common, painting crosses the undercurrents and deposits into certain faiths that construct your attitude. Action is something that is always being done, and it constantly trains your intuition. And yes, intuition is something that can be trained. The tension between detachment and compassion, and that between strangeness and trust, has made both sides visible.
Perhaps painting is just a bit of material evidence that remains in reality, and the action taken by physical body and nature is a highly collaborative spiritual agreement.

刘正勇,1980年生于湖南,2004年毕业于天津美院油画系,2011-2013年受邀在法国德国进行考察和长期创作。2014-2015年受法国美术馆邀请在南法及巴黎进行创作及个人美术馆艺术项目交流,受荷兰阿姆斯特丹艺术基金会邀请于意大利威尼斯进行双年展项目交流。
作品主要为绘画、装置艺术等。以身体为线索,从个体角度探讨人性的现在与过往景观。重新思考和组织关于再造物 再造绘画 具体化身体与荒原 不可见时间等的深层逻辑关系。将对结果的追溯转向创作的自我与过程。持续进入绘画与结构建造图像与精神内核的实践和讨论。
08年开始活跃于国际艺术舞台,先后于法国、德国、意大利、美国、俄罗斯等美术馆和机构举办展览,包括2014年Museum Paul Valery法国保罗瓦列里国家美术馆刘正勇个展、2013年第55届威尼斯双年展GACF基金会Palazzo Mora Venice Italy,2013-2015年Grand Palais France巴黎大皇宫展,莫斯科MoMA现代美术馆,美国加州大学美术馆,法国尼斯亚洲艺术中心,德国柏林亚洲艺术中心,罗马尼亚布加勒斯特等重要展览。
Liu Zhengyong. Born in Hunan in 1980. Graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 2004。The main works are painting installation art, etc. Based on the clue of body,discusses the memory of human nature and historical landscape from the perspective of individual. Rethink the deep logical relationship between the concrete body and the invisible time of the wasteland. Turn the tracing of the result to the self and process of creation. Firmly enter the continuous practice and discussion of painting and structure construction image and spiritual core.
Since 2008, he has been active in the international art stage, successively holding exhibitions in art Museum and institutions such as France, Germany, Italy, the United States and Russia, China, etc., including Liu Zhengyong's large solo exhibition of the Museum Paul Valery in France, the 55th Venice Biennale exhibition, Paris grand Palace exhibition, ‘The New Wave of Chinese Contemporary Art’ Californie, USA and other important exhibitions.
